Shanghai Pudong Airport Terminal 1

Shanghai Pudong Airport Terminal 1 handles both domestic and international flights.

It is divided into international (left) and domestic (right) areas.

Terminal 1 was opened in 1999 and it is shaped like a seagull.

Levels

Shanghai Airport Terminal 1 consists of three different levels:

Level 1

Arrivals and baggage claim area.

The area is divided into three different parts: Domestic arrivals, international arrivals and Macao and Taiwan arrivals.

All the arriving flights get into the Arrivals Hall, where several services are offered: Currency exchange, food, drink and retail concessions, tourist information, ground transportation.

Level 2

Departures and check-in level.

Serves most of the domestic flights as well as the regional ones.

There is a transit hall in the centre that links with gate 16 (Concourse) and check-in counters C, G, H and J.

The gates that serve international flights are from 16 to 29.

The gates that serve domestic flights are from 1 to 15.

The gates for Terminal 1 are 1–12, 14–29 and the Satellite Terminal S1 gates are 201–211, 533–543, 115–117, 201–211, 251–255, 256–258 and 511–521.

Level 3

It has the Immigration and security check-in as well as the check-in counters from A to M.

In level 3, there are managed International flights to/from Taiwan, Macao and Hong Kong.

It has various VIP Lounges.  

SATELLITE TERMINAL

Satellite Terminal S1, also known as Satellite Hall, entered into service in 2019 and was built in order to increase the passenger capacity, together with Satellite S2. 

Both satellite terminals are connected to Terminals 1 and 2, where passengers should do the check-in, and have 83 jet bridges and 90 boarding gates altogether. 

The 620,000-square-meter terminal is expected to handle 60 to 70 percent of the airport’s total flights.

Satellite Halls are connected to both Terminals 1 and 2 through an underground people mover. 

TRANSFER BETWEEN TERMINALS 

To move between terminals there is free terminal shuttle.

The route goes from Gate 8 in T1, Gate 23 in T2, Gate 27 in T2, Gate 1 in T1 and Gate 8 in T1. 

Travel time is 5 minutes and operates from 6:00 am to 0:00 am, every 10 minutes

No. 36 China Eastern Lounge: Terminal 1, International Area. Open from first departure until last departure of the day. Services: Snacks, premium food, Wi-fi, showers, drinks, TV, Internet Terminals, newspapers and magazines. 

VIP Lounge 120B: Terminal S1, Domestic. Services: Wi-Fi, Internet Terminals, snacks. 

VIP Lounge 135B: Terminal S1, International Area. Services: Snacks, drinks, among others.
